I remember forming crystals in undergrad chem courses at UofA and I never thought I’d be doing research on them now! This is Dr. Aymon Ali (the younger brother of the more famous Dr. Sohrab Ali – now at UofOttawa doing is Urology Residence) holding up one of the many cystine crystals he’s formed in vitro (literally). I’m very proud of him, and it looks like he’s well on track to finding some novel drugs to halt cystine stone formation in patients (hopefully!). Well done Aymon!!!
